There is a feeling of tension permeating this painting as the colours seem to be in constant movement, trying to force out each other and take over larger parts of the canvas. With the reds perfectly balanced by purples above and blues below them, it's difficult to tell whether any colour is dominating the artwork. They all seem to be frozen in time in a perfect equilibrium that somehow still feels precarious.
